was founded on March 18, 2025, by Raymond and Julia Cortez in loving memory of their son, Preston Cortez. Preston was a remarkable young man whose strength, heart, and dedication touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A standout student-athlete, Preston made his mark in football, baseball, and wrestling. In 2023, he earned honorable mention in the Grossmont Hills League and was named Lineman of the Year at West Hills High School. He also placed in the top five at CIF and finished in the top six at the Master’s Tournament for heavyweights during the 2023–2024 wrestling season. He was a true competitor and a powerhouse on both the field and the mat.
Outside of sports, Preston loved the outdoors, fishing, and bonding over sports with his father. His life, though tragically cut short at just 17 years old, continues to inspire. The foundation was created to carry on Preston’s legacy by supporting young athletes who share his passion and drive.
Through scholarships and the donation of essential sports equipment, Big P’s Big Heart Foundation is committed to honoring Preston’s memory and uplifting future generations of student-athletes.
